This is perhaps the most interesting and unexpected fact about the actress but Alex Van Zeelandt is already a year into comedy. According to the actress, the passion found her after what was possibly the most devastating time of her life. She had been grieving the death of her mother, Lisa.
Alexandra’s mother, born February 16, 1958, left the world on the 31st of January, 2019. Alex described Lisa as her best friend and the one who gave everything for herself and her brother to get by; to have the things they needed, including the actress’ first car.
Zeelandt got into excessive drinking and depression for a long time. She decided on her own to quit drinking and discover herself all over again. It was around that time that a friend of hers started putting together a weekly show for local comedians and artists to honor and showcase their craft. Alex was invited to attend, she did and it became her weekly sanctuary.
When she realized she wanted to get into it and made the resolve, she spent the next two months studying and learning everything she could about it. On January 2, 2021, despite a thumping heartbeat, she stepped up to the mic for her first performance and hasn’t looked back since then. Alex calls herself the dark queen of comedy.
